purpose:

Test Procedure to verify that the Mailtool functions correctly.

expected result:

User should be able to send and receive emails from site participants as well as archive those emails in the Email Archive tool.

test data:

resources.doc, resources.jpg

dependencies:

SiteSetup has been run

setup:

Incoming and Outgoing email must be enabled, Site users emails have been modified to be that of the tester (at least one instructor and two students)

start at:

AM HIS1 home page, Login: aphillips

1.

Under Communication, select the Mailtool link

User directed to the Compose view of the Mailtool

2.

Next to the All Students checkbox, select the Select Students link

Hidden list opens full of student names with checkboxes next to them

3.

Check the box next to Adams, Kathleen

  • Enter the following into the form:
  • Subject: AM HIS1 1: Test Mail
  • Select the Attach a file link

A hidden form opens

4.

Next to the attachment field select the Browse... button

Popup File Upload window appears

5.

Navigate to and select resources.doc

  • Select Open button

Popup closes and resources.doc is listed in the attachment field

6.

Select the Attach button

Page refreshes and resources.doc is listed in the attachments section

7.

Continue entering form information:

  • Unknown macro: {norender}

    Send me a copy (check this box)

    Add to Email Archive (check this box)
  • Select the Send Mail button

User directed to the Message sent to confirmation page where it states that a message has been sent to:

  • Adams, Kathleen
  • a copy to the sender
  • a copy to the email archive for AM HIS1 1
  • Students that are members to this course site should receive this email in their email client

Select the OK button

User directed back to the Compose page with the list of student names still visible

Select the Options link

User directed to the Options page

10.

In the Choose selection view drop box, select Scrolling List

Page refreshes and the Preview shows what the new selection view would look like with a Scrolling List

Select the Update Defaults button

User directed to the Compose view where the new To: field lists possible recipients in a scroll view

12.

Under the Communication category, select the Email Archive link

User directed to the Email Archive tool where the recently sent email, AM HIS1 1: Test Mail, should be listed

13.

Select the AM HIS1 1: Test Mail link

User directed to the message view¿the Body should be italicized

14.

Under Communication, select the Mailtool link

User directed to the Compose view of the Mailtool

15.

Select the Options link

User directed to the Options page

16.

Next to Choose selection view field, select Side-by-Side from the dropbox

Page refreshes with a side-by-side view under Preview section

Next to Message format, select the Plain text radio button

Page refreshes and Plain text radio button is selected

18.

Select the Update Defaults button

In the To: field, select Adams, Kathleen

  • Select the Add button

Page refreshes and Adams, Kathleen should now be listed in the Recipients box

Enter the following:

  • Subject: AM HIS1 1: Next Test
  • Unknown macro: {norender}

  • Select the Send Mail button

  • Kathleen Adams external email client should receive this email and the body should NOT be italicized

Under Communication category, select the Email Archive link

User directed to the Email Archive tool where the recently sent email, AM HIS1 1: Next Test should be listed

22.

Select the AM HIS1 1: Next Test link

User directed to the message view. Body should NOT be italicized.
