Attendance Tool

Concept

One of our professors is refusing to use Sakai because he can't take attendance with any of the tools that our installation has... Maybe I didn't click one of the 300 check boxes that's in our permissions list

I of course didn't get any specific functionality from the requesting party, just. "attendance" so its all I have to go on right now. I wrote him back already asking for more specific details of what he wants.

Has anyone built anything like that, shared it with the community?

Requirements

It would make a lot of sense to me if there was one view that had a list of your students.

You could then switch between a view for marking their attendance (maybe a drop-down with: present, late, unexcused) At the end of the semester, it would total everything.

In that same view, you could then switch to look at their grades.

And, even email the class off that view. There could be a group email option and the ability to click on individuals to email them.

If it was set-up this way, I would be more likely to use SAKAI since there would be a reason to open it every class (for attendance.)
