Use Case 5 - Embed a resource in an ALEX content page

Primary Actor

Faculty or student



Preconditions:

  • Faculty or student owns an NYU Files personal files space directory, and an ALEX-specific Xythos directory

  • Actor has already logged into ALEX system

  • Actor has opened a site he/she has edit rights for, and is in edit mode within a content page

  • Actor has already uploaded media file to an accessible repository

Standard Case

Selects Embed Resource icon from WYSIWYG editor toolbar

Opens the Embed Resource dialog box to the default view (filtered by repository, with the current site's directory open.)

Selects a resource to highlight it.

Clicks "Quick Embed"

Closes the Embed Resource dialog box and displays the resource within the ALEX content page

Selects Filter by tag

Displays a list of resources sorted alphabetically by tag

Opens Resource Settings dialog box. Automatically detects resource type (by extension) in order to determine advanced settings options.

Closes the Embed Resource dialog box and displays a broken image icon if the link is broken

Postconditions:

Web-ready content file displays in content page for all who have access



Business Rules

The default repository and directory should be the NYU Files user owned root Xythos directory if accessed through the Content and Media section of ALEX




The default repository and directory should be the NYU Files site-specific directory if accessed through the WYSIWYG Add Content dialog box.



Requirements

File should appear for all users that have been granted access to that ALEX content page




If user with edit rights to ALEX content page removes the embed of the file from the content page, other users can no longer view the file
