Description

Texas State offers a 40-hour hybrid workshop that emphasizes the application of instructional design to planning an online or hybrid course. The goals of the workshop are to conduct online course planning according to best practices, learn about issues related to teaching online, gain experience with selected Sakai 2 tools, and collaborate with peers.

Faculty plan and build a module in Melete/Modules using principles of instructional design, with an emphasis on planning, designing, and facilitating a hybrid or online course. Upon completion of the workshop, faculty are eligible to apply for a semester long consultation program in which they complete their course design and development.

This presentation will provide in-depth look at the design of this online course workshop and how the Texas State instructional designers have improved it over several iterations. Samples of workshop documents, including a syllabus with a detailed schedule and assignments, will be provided.
