Getting to the Hotel from the Airport

The hotel lists the following transportation details. If you're looking for options to get from a specific airport to the hotel, this information may be helpful. You'll have various options from taxis to shared ride shuttles to public transportation (bus and/or rail).

Burbank Options

The Bob Hope Burbank Airport offers free shuttle service to the Bob Hope Airport Train Station (Mon-Fri) and the Downtown Burbank MetroLink Station. Please use the Trip Planner to check schedules and routes, although Google Maps does a good job too. Base fare is usually $1.50 although there can be add-ons for special routes.

Although there is no direct rail service from LAX to Downtown LA, LA Metro does have reliable subway and bus service all over the city. Please use the Trip Planner to check schedules and routes, although Google Maps does a good job too. Base fare is usually $1.50 although there can be add-ons for special routes.

• Free shuttle from airport to Green Line "Aviation" station (schedule). Transfer to Blue Line (schedule). Exit 7th Street Metro Station. A few blocks to hotel on foot. Be sure to check the Metro rail map below and the line schedules to verify trains are running when you plan to arrive or depart.

Parking

*My understanding is that the conference has negotiated a special daily rate with the hotel. That reduced rate will be $16/day (the normal daily max is $41/day). However, that rate is just for people driving to the conference for the day, but not staying overnight. I believe the overnight rate for hotel guests will be $35/day. Check with the hotel for verification.

**A few blocks away is Pershing Square Parking. This parking lot received good ratings on Yelp. When I called today, if you arrive around 7 AM, the daily rate would be $9.25. I recommend you call and obtain quotes for other times or overnight rates.

***You could park at a nearby (or not-so nearby) Metro train station and take the train to Pershing Square Station. See the Metro rail map. Matthew Jones provided the following Google walking map from Pershing Square to the hotel. I saw a post online that parking at Union Station was $6/day, but not sure if that's still the current price. Many other lots are likely free but may not be patrolled.

Getting Around Town

If you're planning on staying for any length of time, renting a car is probably your best bet (because nobody walks in LA).

A Note on Freeways

Most of LA's major freeways converge on downtown. Be aware that LA's legendary traffic jams are real, but constrained to rush hours and focused on an influx of folks into the city in the morning, and a mass exodus out of the city in the evening (as you may expect). An in-depth orientation of LA's major freeways and where they go can be found here.

To orient you, the 10 is the major East-West artery. The 5 is the major thoroughfare that trunks and others use to travel from the top of the state to the bottom, so it's mostly North-South. The 405 is infamous for having gridlock in both directions, but it's the main route into Orange County (LA County's southern neighbor). The 1 is the scenic and often death-defying route that hugs the coast.
