Creating Video Tutorials on Sakai
Creating Video Tutorials on Sakai
Speaker(s): Salwa Khan, Daniel Tyger
Date: Tuesday 3:15 pm - 4:45 pm
Room: INTL 5
Session Abstract
Confucius said, "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." Learn how to make video tutorials for those in your institution that would learn Sakai best by seeing and doing. The session will include lecture, demonstrations of screen-capture software and one on one instruction. We'll look at both open-source and proprietary software. We'll cover preparation, software and hardware issues, scripting, recording, editing and outputting video in several different formats depending on the intended audience. We'll also discuss ways to share tutorial materials among institutions. If you'd like, bring your laptop computer and screen-capture software, and we'll spend some of our time creating tutorials. Presenter Background: Daniel Tyger is Online Teaching & Learning Coordinator at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Michigan.
Salwa Khan is a longtime video/media producer, an educator, and currently a resource for faculty at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas
