First-time-use

The system detects a user who has never used the Content Manager before and presents a quick tour/tutorial to describe its value to the user and help set it up (import content from an existing repository, install the bookmarklet, demonstrate tagging and sharing, etc.).

Standard interface

Once content has been imported or added to the Content Manager.

Summary

This Content Manager prototype focuses on:

  • (in the above, "first-time-use," screen) the ability for users to learn how the content manager serves them
  • (in the above, "first-time-use," screen) the ability for users to import & synchronize with other citation management or bookmarking systems and install the bookmarklet tool to import web content into Sakai
  • the ability for users to search, browse, organize and manage their content
  • the ability for users to embed content into a document they are currently editing
  • the ability for users to see availability options for library content
  • the ability for users to see recently modified and recommended content based on their context
  • the ability for users to share folders
  • the ability for users to create "search alert folders" (the folder with the '11' next to it) that automatically update with library content based on a fixed search
  • the ability for users to see which courses their content is also used in

When clicking on an individual content item, users are taken to the Content Item interface.

When clicking "Add" on an individual content item, it is added to the user's document - Content Authoring (rich text editor).
