New features

(tick)  Evaluation subsection

An Evaluation subsection in the syllabus has been introduced. This subsection allows that  each course evaluation (exams, session work, etc.)  has its own "page" (ContentUnit) with specific resources, assignment link, etc.

(tick)   Rubrics
The list of available rubrics for a resource context now depends on current context (type of resource context and type of parent ContentUnit). This is configurable in rules.xml.

(tick) New type of resources

  • Contact information
  • Citation (only partial functionality: work in progress)

(tick) Preview function
Allows to preview the current course outline before publishing or even saving it. The operation completely takes place on the client-side (no server processing).

(tick) "Long View"
Allows to see the whole course outline in one long page. The Long View is available in the editable view for the teacher as well as in the student view.

(tick) Resources ordering
Easy (and instant!) reordering of resources in a rubric.

(tick) Saving the course outline
OSYL now proposes to save the course outline when leaving the tool, only if changes were made.

(tick) New tools (work in progress, mostly alpha-level):

  • OpenSyllabusAdmin or OSYLAdmin is targeted to the instance administrator for configuration tasks (course management integration and skin/bundle configuration will be included eventually).
  • OpenSyllabusManager or OSYLManager is targeted to the teacher for course outline operations. Implemented up to now: import/export (XML zipped with its resources).
