1. Screen resolution
   1. 1024x768 is the preferred resolution as it can be displayed natively on the most common video projectors.
   2. 800x600 would also be acceptable, but less desirable. Most modern web sites are designed for 1024x768.
   3. Hint: change your screen resolution before you start recording and record the entire screen.
2. Codecs
   1. For best results, we recommend using H.264 (commonly referred to as MP4 or MPEG4).
   2. We will do our best to support other video codecs, but there are no guarantees.
   3. For audio we recommend AAC (for Advanced Audio Codec) but MP3 will also work just fine.
3. Time
   1. Ideally, the length of your screencast will be 5-10 minutes long.
   2. Longer submissions will be accepted, but please keep in mind that viewers may not have the time available to watch longer videos.
4. Software
   1. Macintosh OS X
      1. Free - If you are running OS X 10.6.x, the included QuickTime Player already includes screen recording capabilities. See: Use Quicktime X in Mac Snow Leopard for Easy Screencasting for more information.
      2. Paid - ScreenFlow is a very capable screen-casting solution on OS X and allows for simple editing after recording. They do make educational pricing available.
   2. Windows
      1. Free - I have no experience with screen-casting software on this platform so "your mileage may vary". But through a Google search, I found a hit that looks promising: Free Screen To Video
      2. Paid - I think it is safe to say that Adobe Captivate is the gold standard on this platform - but again I am not an expert on the Windows platform.
5. Metadata - please provide the following information via email with your submission:
   1. Title
   2. One paragraph summary of what we are seeing in the video.
   3. Full name
   4. Institution name
6. Submissions
   1. Upload your completed video to a public URL that can be downloaded (i.e. we need access to the source file not a YouTube link).
   2. Email the download URL to ~lance@indiana.edu Unlicensed user.
   3. The video will be uploaded to Sakai's Vimeo group.
   4. The video will also be used on sakaiproject.org.
